Relational Mentoring Scotland (RMS)

The Wise Group is introducing Relational Mentoring Scotland (RMS), a service fully funded by the Scottish Government to support its child poverty agenda.

RMS supports households with children under 18 across six local authority areas: Inverclyde, Glasgow, Renfrewshire, North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire and the Scottish Borders.

The service is designed to help families experiencing financial hardship, rising living costs, debt, poor mental wellbeing, social isolation, barriers to employment and difficulties accessing support services. These challenges can affect household stability and tenancy sustainment.

RMS uses a person‑centred, relationship‑based approach to help reduce child poverty and improve outcomes for families. Through trusted relationships, practical guidance and personalised action planning, RMS helps families overcome barriers, increase stability, improve wellbeing, maximise income and build resilience for long‑term positive change.

Who We Support

Relational Mentoring Scotland provides free, one‑to‑one mentoring for parents, carers and guardians living in households with children under 18. Support is available across:

  • Inverclyde
  • Glasgow
  • Renfrewshire
  • North Lanarkshire
  • South Lanarkshire
  • Scottish Borders

  • Mentoring — Tailored one‑to‑one support from a dedicated mentor.
  • Employability — Help accessing training, education, volunteering and employment.
  • Income Maximisation — Support with benefits, grants and financial entitlements.
  • Mental Health & Wellbeing — Emotional support, confidence building and resilience development.
  • Digital Skills & Training — Access to essential digital skills and 100+ free accredited courses via The Digital College.
  • Energy Advice & Advocacy — Help managing energy costs and accessing additional support.
  • Financial Budgeting — Creating and maintaining sustainable household budgets.
  • Additional Support — Signposting and referrals to specialist organisations.
